Robert's Heart

This was written by one of my staff members, Nikki Taylor, in response to working with one of our youngest residents, Robert. Robert was seven years old at the time of this writing.

Robert's Heart

I am so small, so weak, and frail.
I've been deserted and left to fend for myself.
I have so much to give the world.
I am a child who needs his mom.

God made me very special
With lots of love to give.
I may be small, but I'll stand tall
And this is how I will live.

In search of a family to call my own
That will love me even when I fail.
They'll tell me everything will be alright,
And they will hold me in their arms so tight.

I like to play ball, run, and fish,
Pretend I am superhero.
Someday I hope and wish.
I like to sing and say my prayers.

When "I lay me down to sleep I
Always pray my soul to keep."
God bless everyone and plese send me
A family to whom I'll belong.

This is the end and just the beginning
Of my story and my song.
